Province 1 government gears up to recruit employees (1 August 2019_
" The provincial government has decided to take this step in light of employee shortage in government offices."

The Province 1 government has started necessary preparations to recruit employees in a bid to resolve the long-standing problem of employee shortage in government offices in the province.

The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday decided to appoint employees at the Ministry of Land Management and Agriculture Cooperatives to mitigate the problem by mobilizing budget for the purpose.
The Cabinet approved working guidelines regarding the posts of agriculture officer, technical assistant and sub-technical assistant. With the approval of the working guidelines, the ministry can now hire employees on its own.

Province’s Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hikmat Kumar Karki, who is also the government spokesperson, said the cabinet meeting approved the guidelines to appoint employees on a contract basis.


The cabinet also decided to authorise the Office of the Chief Minister to transfer and mobilise ninth- and tenth-level employees.

Similarly, the cabinet meeting approved a bill on management of proposed Manmohan Technical University. The provincial government allocated a budget of Rs165 million to set up a technical university in the current fiscal year.

An additional Rs50 million was allocated to establish colleges in Taplejung, Panchthar, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha and Solukhumbu districts. These colleges are to be affiliated to the proposed technical university.According to Minister Karki, the cabinet also decided to present the annual reports of the auditor general in the centre and Office of Chief Attorney of Province 1 in the upcoming provincial assembly meeting. These are the reports of the last fiscal year 2018/19.


400,000 apply at PSC for vacancies at local units (3 July 2019)
Over 400,000 applications were received at the Public Service Commission (PSC) for 9,161 vacancies at 515 various local units across the country until a few hours before the final deadline.

Applications flooded in at the PSC at the last hour . Many aspirants for the positions were in confusion whether or not there would be recruitment exams as the vacancy announcement was being challenged in court.According to the PSC, 440,163 applications had been received as of 7:45 pm on Tuesday, the last day for applications.

The PSC will receive applications online until midnight.

Among the applications, as many as 433,820 were received under open category while 103,386 were under reservations for women, 43,262 under reservations for indigenous and ethnic communities, 24,067 under Madhesi , 3,086 under Dalit, 145 under differently abled and 116 under reservations for other backward classes, informed the PSC.


Deadline Extension: Lok Sewa Aayog extends form fill-up date (18 June 2019)
Public Service Commission has extended the date to fill up the forms for the examination to be taken by the commission for various positions in the local levels.

PSC meeting held on 18 June decided to extend the deadline until 10 Ashadh 2076 (normal fee) and 17 Ashadh 2076 ( with Double Late fee)



It was extended considering the flow of aspirants to participate in the examination. A total of over 172,000 applicants have already filled up their forms for 9,661 various posts in the local government.

Lok Sewa Vacancy notice (29 May 2019):
Lok Sewa Aayog (Public Service Commission) has published vacancy (published on Gorkhapatra Daily, 29 may 2019) for various positions for the local level.

There are altogether 9345 job openings for the local level.
